When pets are diagnosed with cancer, their families want not just advanced treatment, but also compassionate support. At Virginia Veterinary Centers’ new Short Pump location, a partnership with CQ Medical is helping shape a brighter future for animal oncology—combining expertise, innovative technology, and genuine care.

Partnership Driving Progress
Virginia Veterinary Centers (VVC) has long been a leader in emergency and specialty veterinary care across Virginia. Their Short Pump facility, opened in March 2025, is dedicated to comprehensive cancer treatment, offering 24/7 emergency care and specialized oncology services. The expansive 32,000 sq. ft. facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools such as radiology, CT, MRI, and ultrasound to support precise and effective care.

Working together, CQ Medical and VVC hope to enhance treatment for companion animals with cancer.

Leadership and Innovation
Dr. Daniel De Lillo, a board-certified specialist with extensive experience in advanced radiotherapy and compassionate patient care, was a critical part of the adoption of CQ Medical’s product into his practice. By utilizing cutting-edge technology to improve patient outcomes, Dr. De Lillo collaborates closely with the veterinary team to ensure the best possible practices throughout diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.

Transformative Technology
At the core of this partnership is CQ Medical’s Symphony Imaging, Treatment & Transfer Solution. The system includes:

  • Slate AirShuttle and AirDrive Systems: These tools allow smooth and stable patient transfer, supporting precise and seamless workflows from imaging to treatment.
  • Positioning Technology: CQ Medical’s thermoplastic masks and Vac-Lok cushions provide secure, comfortable immobilization to help ensure accurate and consistent treatment delivery for each animal.

The technology supports a wide range of imaging and treatment modalities—CT, X-ray, MRI, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and radiation therapy—building a streamlined and efficient workflow for teams and better experiences for veterinary patients.

Making a Difference
VVC Short Pump is able to treat a variety of tumors and accommodate not just cats and dogs, but also occasional exotic patients. Through clinical excellence and innovative technology, the partnership is delivering hope, comfort, and improved outcomes to pets and their families. The result is a supportive model for advancing veterinary cancer care—one that values both compassionate treatment and leading-edge solutions.

Looking Ahead
By bringing together CQ Medical’s technological innovations with VVC’s clinical expertise, this partnership is setting new standards in veterinary cancer care. As advancements continue, pets facing cancer—and the people who love them—can look to a future with more possibilities for healing and comfort.
